GEN-Y GH-527 MEGA-DUTY 16K Hitch — 2-Inch Shank, 15-Inch Drop

GEN-Y GH-527 is the 15-inch-drop, seven-position MEGA-DUTY configuration with a 2-inch receiver shank, dual-ball mount and pintle lock. Select it by receiver size, required trailer height and the lowest rating in your towing system.

Product Description

This GH-527 configuration gives a taller tow vehicle seven height positions for setting an appropriate ball height. The supplied dual-ball attachment provides 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch ball sizes; the pintle lock supports the manufacturer’s specified lunette-ring arrangement.

The 16,000 lb gross trailer and 2,000 lb tongue-weight figures describe the hitch’s listed limits, not permission to tow that load with any truck or trailer. Vehicle, receiver, coupling and other component ratings still govern, and a lower-rated component reduces the permissible load.

Features & Benefits

  • 15-inch drop / seven positions: Offers height selection for a compatible towing setup.
  • 2-inch shank: Match the vehicle’s receiver before selecting this model.
  • Two ball sizes: 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch dual-ball attachment supplied.
  • Pintle lock included: Use only the 2-5/16-inch ball for the specified pintle-ring connection.
  • Steel construction: Silver-vein powder-coat finish; GEN-Y includes a stabilizer kit for drops above 12-1/2 inches.

Compatibility & Applications

  • For a matching 2-inch receiver and a trailer coupling compatible with the selected ball or approved pintle-ring connection.
  • Measure the required drop and available ground clearance; a 15-inch drop is not appropriate simply because the shank fits.
  • Not rated for winching. GEN-Y limits flat-towing drop/rise to 7-1/2 inches, so do not use a 15-inch setting for flat towing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which configuration is GH-527?

A: GEN-Y’s exact GH-527 variant is the 15-inch-drop, seven-position model with dual-ball mount and pintle lock in the 2-inch-shank MEGA-DUTY 16K family.

Q: Is this the 2-1/2-inch receiver model?

A: No. GH-527 has a 2-inch receiver shank. Verify the actual receiver size instead of relying on a broad MEGA-DUTY family listing.

Q: Which ball sizes are included?

A: The supplied dual-ball attachment provides 2-inch and 2-5/16-inch balls. Match the trailer coupler and observe all applicable ratings.

Q: Is the stabilizer kit included?

A: Yes. GEN-Y specifies that stabilizer kits are included with drops above 12-1/2 inches; this is the 15-inch configuration.

Q: Can I use either ball for pintle-ring towing?

A: No. GEN-Y specifies the 2-5/16-inch ball only for pintle-ring towing. Follow its ring-size and connection requirements.

Q: Can I use the full 15-inch drop for flat towing or winching?

A: No. GEN-Y limits flat-towing drop/rise to 7-1/2 inches and states that this hitch is not rated for winching.

Q: Does the hitch rating determine my truck’s towing capacity?

A: No. Use the lowest applicable rating across the vehicle, receiver, hitch, coupling and trailer, and confirm the loaded trailer and tongue weights.

Key Points & Helpful Resources

Why Choose This Product?

GH-527 brings the dual-ball and pintle-lock configuration together with a substantial height adjustment range. Its value depends on matching that range to a measured towing setup, not choosing the largest drop available.

Ideal For

  • Owners of a confirmed 2-inch receiver who need the specified 15-inch-drop configuration.
  • Towing setups using compatible ball couplers or a manufacturer-approved pintle-ring connection.
