Thule 53012 12mm Front Thru-Axle Adapter

Thule 53012 is the 12mm thru-axle adapter used between a compatible bicycle front fork and a fork-mounted bike carrier. The front wheel is removed, the adapter is secured in the fork with the bicycle's thru-axle, and the adapter is then attached to the carrier.

This listing is the adapter only. It does not include a bicycle carrier, bicycle axle or a conversion to every fork standard. This is a legacy adapter; check compatibility against the actual fork and carrier before ordering.

Q: Do I leave the front wheel on?

A: No. The manufacturer's procedure removes the front wheel and places the adapter between the fork dropouts for carrier transport.

Q: Is a replacement bicycle thru-axle included?

A: No. The instructions use the bicycle's own compatible thru-axle to secure the adapter.

Q: Does 12mm mean it fits every 12mm fork?

A: No. Fork spacing, fork-leg clearance and the carrier interface must also be compatible. Do not choose it from axle diameter alone.

Q: Can I use it as the 15mm version?

A: No. 53012 is the 12mm part. The shared instruction sheet includes other part numbers, which are separate configurations.

Q: Why does adapter alignment matter?

A: Thule warns that positioning it out of line with the fork legs can allow contact and damage the adapter or fork.

Q: Does it raise the bike rack's weight capacity?

A: No. Follow the lowest applicable carrier, rack and vehicle load limit, including the weight of the mounted equipment.

  • 5% restocking fee applies if canceled within 30 days.
  • Non-cancellable once shipped from the manufacturer.
  • Refused Deliveries: Refund minus shipping & restocking fees (excludes special orders).
